The weekly Meta ads routine every founder should run
Running Meta ads without a weekly ritual is how you end up with a €2,000 surprise at the end of the month. The cure is 30 minutes every Monday morning, in the same order every time. Here is the exact ritual.
Step 1: open the 7-day performance view (3 minutes)
Ads Manager → breakdown by campaign, 7-day window, columns: spend, purchases, CAC, ROAS, frequency, link CTR. That is six numbers. If your CAC is within range and frequency is under 2.5, Step 1 is done.
Step 2: check creative frequency (3 minutes)
Break down by ad (not ad set). Any individual creative with frequency above 2.5 gets flagged for rotation. Above 3.0 and it gets paused this week — no exceptions. Fatigue kills more Meta campaigns than any competitor does.
Step 3: CAPI event match quality (2 minutes)
Events Manager → Data sources → your pixel → event match quality score. Under 6.5 and your attribution is broken. Above 8.0 and you are in the clear. If it is sliding, check whether a recent Shopify or Gtag change stripped a CAPI parameter.
Step 4: compare Ads Manager to Shopify (5 minutes)
Open Shopify analytics, filter for "Facebook" as referring source for the last 7 days. If Meta says 40 purchases and Shopify says 28, Meta is overcounting (usually because of 7-day click attribution). The real CAC is the Shopify one — use it for decisions.
Step 5: launch next week's creative test (10 minutes)
Copy last week's test ad set. Swap in three new creatives. Set the budget to €120. Schedule for Monday through Sunday. Done. This is how you guarantee you ship new ideas instead of just reacting to last week's numbers.
Step 6: write one sentence in your decisions log (1 minute)
"This week I paused [ad] because frequency was 3.1. I scaled [ad] by 20 percent because CAC was 15 below target. I tested three new creatives on [angle]." One sentence. Future-you will thank you in six weeks when you are trying to remember what happened in April.
What NOT to do during the ritual
- Do not change bidding strategy mid-week. Ever.
- Do not react to a 1-day spike. You will un-do it on Tuesday and wonder what went wrong.
- Do not broaden targeting just because CPMs are up. Fix the creative first.
- Do not pause a new ad before day 4. Meta's learning phase is still settling.
nordenagent runs all six of these steps automatically every weekday morning and sends you the summary as a single Slack message or email. The 30-minute Monday ritual becomes a 2-minute skim. Same discipline, 15x less time.
